Baby Friends

Miss L and her classmates - 9.29.11

One of the best decisions we made with our little one was to sign-up for the hospital post-baby classes called "Mommy and me" classes. For six weeks, beginning when she was two weeks...we attended weekly classes with other new moms and newborns. Each week a faciliator leads discussions on various topics about newborns and new mommyhood - from sleeping and eating to breastfeeding and bouncing back. The faciliator we had was amazing and just a joy to be around. We have developed some new friendships throughout the six weeks of classes and enjoyed gaining tips and tricks from other new mommies. One week we had a baby show-and-tell (see post below) that allowed us to hear about other cool toys and helpful gadgets. We also have gathered together outside of class to go on organized walks at the mall or around the beautiful lakes here. Later this month, we are hosting a "Baby Halloween Party" at our home (photos to follow).

Regardless of location, I highly recommend other new moms take a class like this at their respective hospital or in their community. It has helped me become a better mom and has created a solid foundation of fun and healthy development for our little one.

World Kindness Day

Last week was World Kindness Day and I think this date has never been more relevant than after the U.S. election and going into the holidays...
